A new shining version of Hyper Cache has just been release. The new version is 1.2 and there are big news with it. Before all, Hyper Cache saves CPU, memory, bandwidth, so can be it considerer a GREEN PLUGIN?
- Added the gzip support!!! Just enable it in the configuration page. Every time a browser can handle gzip compressed page, it will e served in that way. This saves a lot of bandwith.
- Wordpress redirects are now cached. Read the long story below, this can translate in great resource saving.
- Single page invalidation. If enabled, when a post/page is edited or a comment is added, only that single cached page is deleted.
- Auto update from Wordpress. No more options lost when you do an automatic upgrade from Wordpress plugins admin page, sorry for that inconvenience.
Dowload it here.
About gzip compression
If enabled, Hyper Cache stores the plain and the gzipped version of a page. When a browser is ale to receive compressd pages, the gzipped version will be returned. It's totally transparent, you don't need to configure Wordpress in any way.
Storing two version of a page is a bit more disk space consuming: you have to evaluate the convenience. By now, Hyper Cache cannot store a single version and gzip or gunzip on the fly: it will be CPU consuming.
About the Wordpress Redirects
In my site, www.satollo.com, I have a number of link back from external sites wrongly written: a post link have to end with a slash and many of those back links haven't. So, when Wordpress receives those kinds of request, activates the "canonical url redirect" and sends back a redirect.

A new arab site has been added: Adifni.com. As always the plugin is available here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bookmark-me/.
Have a nice sunday.
You asked for it...
Many people asked me to put on Hyper Cache a way to invalidate only single cache paged, when a new comment is saved and approved.
So I did it. The version 1.1.1 comes with an option to enable this behaviour. Try it, it seems to work :-).
Still there is a global invalidation on some cases like the publishing of a new post. This is necessary because many blog have the "latest posts" on every page and the home page NEEDS to be invalidated (when you publish a post, many pings are sent out and visitors come in... would you show them an old home page?)
Have a nice day.

RT asked me to add some controls in Hyper Cache to avoi caching when a password is password protected, otherwise even if a user knows the right password, the cache serves always the uncomplete page from the cache.
I've added this control just now and realeased with version 1.1 of Hyper Cache. The news version has a little new function: some code to compress a little bit the html. I'm not talking of gzip compression, actually I don't know how to implement it and how to manage it.
The compression can be enabled and disable via the configuration panel.
Sorry in advance for come missing translation, next release will e completed (I've really no time today).
Go to the official Hyper Cache page.

I think no one of you have missed the calendar of Sport Illustrated: the painted on bikini 2008. Four nice models posed per a photographic session almost naked with only a "painted on" bikini, like in the body paint techniques.
The shots worth to be see: you can be pleased by the models but you will be by the quality of the paint on bikini. You do not belive me? Look the photos below.

I've just released a new simple plugin: Comment Notifier. The plugin let blog "commenters" to subscribe the discussion about a post and receive an email every time a new comment is added.
I know: there is the subscribe to comment plugin already available.
The plugin has been writtent during a lesson I give to some people about WordPress and its plugins system. So it can be a good starting point to extend the functionalities implemented (very simple). The code is enough clean, I hope.
Read more on the plugin page: Comment Notifier. You can download it from there, but it's best to wait the public release on WordPress.
