Oils, essential oils and unguents are foundamental in massages. The oil used in a massage is not a single oil, but is made of a mix of essential oil added to a base oil.
There are many recipes: some are specific to countries where some essential oil are found in the near nature, other are specific to massage techniques.
Have I to use different oils to get differents effects? An exiting massage depends only on movements and technique or the oil used can make the difference? And for a relaxing one?
The answere is yes, the oil, or better the mix of essential oils used make the difference.
And where can I find recipes?
A lot of recipes and books can be found on the net about massage oils. You can ask some forums or find out specific blog. ButI suggest to start in studing this site.
To learn massages, books are good, but youneed to see the real action. Self teaching can be done with DVD from baby massage to sensual massage.
The following recipe, called "Tea Tree Temptations" is only an example from the above site:
- 8 teaspoons grapeseed oil
- 6 drops of jasmine essential/fragrance oil
- 2 drops tea tree oil
- 2 drops neroli essential/fragrance oil
Blend ingredients well.
Warm up oil before doing any massage including your fingertips. Avoid during pregnancy.
